Filipinx/a/o Mental Health:
Navigating Filipino and American Culture

Monday, April 29, 2024 | 5-7p | Seattle - University of Washington Husky Union Building (HUB) Room 145

Dr. Bernice Ponce de Leon is a double board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist in Nevada. Her passion for Asian American mental health inspired her to pursue medicine and decrease mental health stigma by hosting outreach events with AAPI medical and dental students in Nevada. She has also worked to educate her physician peers about the need for culturally competent psychiatrists and how to work with the Filipinx/a/o American Community through numerous presentations, including at national conferences. She hopes that through this work, Filipinx/a/o culture can one day become a tool to enhance our mental health, rather than be a barrier.
